I Am All Girls

Female and male can be analogous to the Chicken and Egg concept. If you believe the biblical account - male first, female created second from the rib of man - then the apocryphal Adam would have been the first human being. The number of racial varieties that exist in humankind, makes such a mass genetic transmutation a strong improbability. The Western pious belief is rooted in xenophobic white supremacy - of course the white male had to come first. Geological research insist that the causality dilemma would not be debated between the Caucasoid female and male, but between anthropoids of African descent.

The Netflix movie, ‘I Am All Girls’ (2021) is about human trafficking, and based on true events. Set in South Africa and filmed on location in the country, this poignant docudrama highlights an apartheid-era story that still resonates today. 

The South African film tells the chilling story of a sinister human trafficking ring and the work of two people attempting to bring it down. It depicts various neighborhoods and locations from South African cities as the two protagonists of the movie follow the trail of child traffickers. 

A special crimes investigator forms an unlikely bond with a serial killer to bring down a global child sex trafficking syndicate. 

In order to keep on the syndicate’s trail, the investigator must team up with the most unlikely of allies, a serial killer who also aims to bring down the criminal trafficking ring, albeit with slightly different methods.

The revenge-killers carve the initials of the latest victims of child trafficking into the chest of the psychopaths that they take out - poetic justice if you ask this author. The filmmakers use their artistic license for a good portion of the movie. The facts are:

• Cornelius Gerhardus van Rooyen, better known as Gert van Rooyen, was a South African paedophile and serial killer. The crime drama is based on the Gert van Rooyen (character: Gert de Jager) case from the late 1980s, where the alleged serial killer and his accomplice, Joey Haarhoff kidnapped and murdered six school-aged girls. Their bodies have never been found.
• There were alleged government ties to child trafficking in the 1980s.
• The last victim, Joan Booysen, is said to have escaped capture and alert the police.
• In response, according to The Cinemaholic, Gert van Rooyen supposedly killed his partner and then committed suicide.
• Gert’s son, Flippie van Rooyen claimed that three former National Party ministers were involved in a child smuggling ring that worked with Gert van Rooyen and his accomplice.
• Van Rooyen and his female accomplice Joey Haarhoff are believed to be responsible for the abduction, sexual assault and murder of several missing girls, between 9 and 16-years-old, across eastern South Africa. In early 1990, when faced with arrest after the escape of their latest kidnap victim, Van Rooyen killed Haarhoff before committing suicide. 

There is a difference in how their story ends as Gert de Jager is killed off by another character, possibly on the orders of a high-up figure while in reality, Gert van Rooyen committed suicide.

The story of Gert de Jager and his human trafficking victims is based on real events, but the detective working with the serial killer falls under the guise of dramatic licensing.

The US State Department estimates 500,000 to 700,000 women are trafficked every year. More than half are children. Less than 1% are ever recovered.

The inability of the perpetrators to place themselves in the shoes of their victims will haunt them for generations and lifetimes to come. Every man has a mother, grandmother, and many have sisters, daughters, nieces, close female cousins, etc. Therefore, the heinous criminal activity that these men get sick pleasures from, would not wish such barbaric treatment upon his mother, grandmother, sister, etc.

The mind and ego of this type of sociopath, unfortunately does not possess the empathy/sympathy gene. He is a monster disguised as a human being. This is why your hardest core criminals have no respect for men who commit heinous sexual crimes against children.
