Shrouded in Ambiguity

One of the things that people never allude to when debating Christian and Bible apologist is the study of cosmology. Look up on a cloud-less night and you will see thousands of stars very similar to our Sun.

With a basic understanding of the cosmos, it should be evident that the authors of the Bible and creation myth, by today's standards, would have the mentality of a smart 4-year-old and the imagination to match.

Superstition and brainwashing are the culprits. It doesn't matter whether an individual has a doctorate degree from Harvard, or a Ph.D. from Yale, if she was brainwashed from birth, no amount of logic, facts, or science, will deter her from adhering to medieval beliefs.

She'll believe that a donkey actually spoke (Numbers 22:28); she'll believe the Lord parted the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21); she'll believe a man was swallowed by a large fish and lived to talk about it (Jonah 1-4); she'll believe the Sun was held in the sky for 24 hours so war could continue (Joshua 10-13); and she will believe that an angel of the Lord murdered all first born children if 'lambs blood' was not smeared over their doors (Exodus 12:29).

The erudite individual is knowledgeable about her field of study, but her thoughts, ideas, and beliefs regarding religion are usually quite primitive.

Google, "Who is God?" and here are some of the results you'll get.

  • God is the personal being who walked and talked with Adam and Eve, the first human beings, in the garden of Eden.
  • God is also Savior of mankind, coming to Earth in the person of Jesus of Nazareth to provide the ultimate example of holiness and the ultimate sacrifice for humanity's evilness, in order to restore our personal relationship with 'Him'.
That's complete bullocks, and here's why:

Archaeological research shows that most paleontologist estimate the "Homo habilis" (aka "handy man") evolved in Africa, about 2.5 million years ago. Other studies indicate the "Homo ergaster" (aka "work man"), emerged approximately 1.9 million years ago and settled in different parts of the world.

According to the Bible, Adam and Eve lived around 4th millennium BCE (before the common era), shortly after "God's creation of the universe."

"On the sixth day, God created the first man from the ground and breathed life into Adam's nostrils. Eve was created after Adam." ~ Genesis 1:31

Therefore, biblical history suggest the universe is less than 10,000 years old.

Referring to a 'diving intelligence' in the universe as a "
personal being who walked and talked with Adam," is the equivalent of defining this unlikely entity as a human species with human characteristics. In other words, it's a depiction based on Man's limited knowledge of who he is and the true origins of humankind.

If you observe a panoramic view of the Milky Way, along with the "Local Group of Galaxies," and briefly study the number of stars in our galaxy alone, you will begin to comprehend the fact that the human species is only one of sextillions of other thinking beings in the observable universe
(by the way, the by product of star formation are planets that, due to the gravitational pull, rotate around its closest star).

Before any Christian apologist dares to utter the phrase, "there's no proof that life exist outside of our Solar System," please consider the fact that our closest galactic neighbors in the Andromeda Galaxy, are approximately 2,538,000 light years away (that's 2,538,000 multiplied by 5,878,499,810,000 miles). A distance so great that if we could travel at the speed of light - 186,000 miles per second - it would still take a little over 2 million years to arrive.

*** Inter-dimensional travel is how beings from exoplanets can reach us; humans are entities that exist in a three-dimensional realm, a more dense reality with a slower vibration than fourth, fifth, and higher dimensions).

It's probably a good thing that intelligent beings (used sparingly when speaking of the human species) from various planetary systems are humongous distances from one another. If universal inhabitants were close enough, there would be no doubt that the manipulative sinister beings from planet Earth would make the attempt to "conquer" or "liberate" other planets.

To the dismay of most 'believers', there is no "Savior of mankind" because that's meaningless rhetoric from the human-collated Bible (see First Council of Nicaea).

"The ultimate sacrifice for humanity's evilness." REALLY? What would be the point of making this "ultimate sacrifice" since humanity has been evil to the core long before and after the purported life and times of "Jesus of Nazareth."

If you believe the protagonist of the Christian story actually existed and performed miracles, then you'll also need to believe that a few other saviors, starting at least 3000 years before the Jesus character, did likewise. The others, just like Jesus, performed similar miracles, had the same miraculous birth, died a correlative horrific death, was raised from the dead 3 days later and ascended into the heavens. Oh, and they too, are supposed to return.

-- Wikipedia defines God as:

  • God is conceived as the Supreme Being and principal object of faith.
  • In theism, God is the creator and sustainer of the universe (theism - belief that at least one deity exists).
  • In deism, God is the creator - but not the sustainer - of the universe (deism - belief in the existence of a God on the evidence of reason and nature only, with rejection of supernatural revelation).
  • In pantheism, God is the universe itself (pantheism - doctrine that God is the transcendent reality of which the material universe and human beings are only manifestations).

"The concept of God as described by theologians commonly includes the attributes of omniscience (infinite knowledge), omnipotence (unlimited power), omnipresence (present everywhere), omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, and eternal and necessary existence."

These are plausible definitions of an all-encompassing deity, but keep in mind, Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia written collaboratively by the people who use it. Therefore, the collaborators have absolutely no clue, just as we don't, who or what God is or is not.

No three-dimensional Being could ever describe or define a multidimensional Presence. Our relationship to any sort of Creator is tantamount to a whirlpool's homogeneity with the ocean.

A whirlpool is caused by the meeting of conflicting currents. One could also surmise that our existence is based on an affiliated, energetic, "meeting of conflicting currents."

Only 29 percent of the Earth's surface is land, the other 71 percent is water. Dolphins and whales are the most intelligent creatures in the sea and neither tries to liberate, manipulate, or control the other 2 million species that share their environment.

If we could effectively communicate with these sagacious mammals and ask them to describe or define the ocean, they would probably tell us:

"We are dependent on one another, we are a unit of one." "Now can you please remove the harpoon from my ass? You evil creature!"
