At this point, Serena is the GOAT as far as greatest athlete male or female. This woman - and her sister was there at one point of her career - has been dominating women's tennis for the past 17 years. She gave birth... after winning 2016 Australian Open while pregnant... and swiftly rose back to the top of her game!
There is no DOUBT that she has surpassed Micheal Jordan as the greatest athlete of all time and certainly the greatest CHAMPION. It's not even close. It's laughable.
I had my sports A-HA moment, called my nephew to debate the issue. We went back and forth for several minutes and he didn't want to give it up to Serena. His opinion... and as they say, 'opinions like assholes, we all have them and they all smell'.
If Serena was Sammy, and for 17 years has been dominating MEN's tennis, unlike any other sport. Couple this fact with the level of conditioning required to play tennis... no timeouts, no coaching in the Major tournaments, one-on-one...
Micheal Jordan, when he played with the Wash Wizards, was a shell of his former self; with no team around him, he DID... NOT... LOOK... SO... JORDAN-LIKE.
Serena, on the other hand, pregnant when winning one Major, comes back after giving birth... goes straight to the top.
If a Caucasian or African American male, had been as dominant as Serena, close to 18 years, there is NO DOUBT that he would not be considered the GREATEST ATHLETE OF ALL TIME.. the "male/female" characterizations would not come into play.
This male-dominant tennis player, for over 17 years, would also have a net worth of somewhere in the $2 Billion range... EASILY.
Let's go hypothetical and take it a step further... Jordan gives birth before playing for the Wizards... We saw how un-Jordan-like he looked in the real world, imagine his conditioning and eroding skills after returning from going into labor and birthing a healthy baby girl.
If the good ol' boy sporting world cannot except Serena as the GOAT - male or female - then that relegates her to be the greatest African American athlete of all time.
This is for the white guys who are thinking.... "no way Serena is a better athlete than Tom Brady!"
Well, we know she's a better-conditioned athlete than Brady... by far... probably can beat his 40-yard-dash time (5.38 seconds) at 37 years of age, and he can be 22 or 42 years of age... his choice.
Google the three athletes quotes and some of the first you will see is...
- I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed... MJ
- To me, football is so much about mental toughness, it's digging deep, it's doing whatever you need to do to help a team win... Brady
- I'm really exciting. I smile a lot, I win a lot, and I'm really sexy... Serena
I'll throw the white guys a bone... you say she's not better than Brady, then that sends the argument in the direction of... if she is not the greatest champion of all-time, male or female, white or black... then you would have to say she is the greatest Black athlete, male or female, in sports history... which begs the question... Is Tom a better champion, a greater athlete than Mike?
She has 23 Grand Slam Championships, so basically that's 23 x 3 = 69 total championships. The closest other athlete to that number is Bill Russell with 12.
All of her accomplishments, her athleticism, and marvelous conditioning... stereotypes, slander, gender bias, and racism have not fazed Serena Jameka Williams.
