Crab Mentality

Over the past 15 years, I have submitted over 3000 articles on the Internet (personal blogs and writing sites like eHow, Squidoo, Hubpages, and several others) under the name of "taskeinc". TASKE is an acronym that stands for Together Acquiring Strength Knowledge & Excellence.

My first book, self-published in March of 2019 on Amazon, is a compilation of 100 articles (similar to the essays and writing style of the late/great James Baldwin) called, Essays in Esoteric Erudition: Volume 1Volume 2 is in the editing stage and will be released by the end of January 2020.

Black folks (including my own relatives) harbor such a crab's mentality that I've gotten very little support for my book. Usually, when I mention the book, there's rarely a word spoken afterward. Some say, "I'll buy it", but never do. Since March 2019, not one relative (with the exception of my daughter and son) and only one friend, have purchased my book (shout-out to my day-one homie L. Bedford).

I don't write for fame or fortune, I write to get across the message of self-knowledge, self-awareness, self-respect, and love.

Taskeinc supports other unknown and fledgling authors by either buying their ebook or paperback. Most of whom I don't even know on a personal level, but I make the inexpensive purchase and give them a good review on Amazon just to show support. Unfortunately, my efforts are never reciprocated.

Just recently an associate from the gym, posted on FB asking people to buy her daughter's book - a children's book - on Amazon (we are not 'friends' on FB and I didn't send a 'friend request' when I came across her page). As soon as I saw her post, I went to Amazon, purchased the $3 ebook, read it (it was only 24 pages), wrote a review and gave her daughter 5 stars. I mentioned this to her mom in a text message and she didn't even say THANK YOU.

But it's cool. In the words of the late Nipsey Hussle, "I didn't want the fame, I just wanted y'all to feel me. Ball till we fall, f**k how the story ends. I see you niggas hate-en, I know you ho's plot-en, I ain't worried bout it, cause I know God-got-me!"

I'll keep writing because it's my passion. Expressing myself via the power of the written word is also one reason for my incarnation to this egocentric and bizarre four-dimensional space referred to as planet Earth.
