The picture highlights Trump's miserable and tragic 4 years in the Oval Office. Steve Bannon, one of Trump's ardent supporters early on, consistently talked about "The Fourth Turning."
This event is occurring now and is a pivotal moment in American history, that will altar this country forever. Steve Bannon is a terrible human being and I normally wouldn't be citing him as a reference. But there was some truth to his perspective on American history.
He stated the First Turning was the American Revolution, the Second Turning was the Civil War and the Third was the Great Depression/WWII.
The first turning was created because the British monarchy underestimated the yearning for sovereignty by it's subjects.
The second one came about because after the first turning, the country missed an opportunity to demolish slavery. So an entire war was fought over that.
The third turning came about because of unchecked markets and unchecked fascism post WWI.
The second turning and the current fourth turning, are intrinsically connected. Because after the Civil War, America had a chance to right the wrongs of racial injustice and what it had done to it's own citizens. But instead, through a dastardly compromise, the North allowed Southern whites free reign to terrorize and disenfranchise its black population.
The North also created heavy handed segregation for it's black citizenry. That era lasted from 1870 to now. Because although in the 1950s and 60s black people in this nation used the courts and legislative efforts to ensure our equal rights in America, this never purged the nation of white supremacist ideals.
America's white populous never had a moral reckoning for all the evil that transpired. The courts and Congress forced them into this new space with African Americans.
Therefore, eerily similar to the the American Revolution and the Civil War, America once again is falling into an ugly period in its history because of negligence. When left like a sore to fester, a bigger problem is created.
Jan 6, 2021 was all about the unchecked white supremacy that's been prominent in this country since its founding. This is way bigger than Donald Trump. And now this very same country has 20,000 troops guarding the nation's Capitol from its own citizens.
The enemy is on American soil. An ungrateful, coddled child is now lashing out at mom and dad. And even through all this mayhem, they are still being coddled. The guy who stole Pelosi's podium is free on bond. Fake Jamiroquai is being fed the organic foods he requested. While black folks who have done way less are currently being denied bail and nutritious food. It's like this country never learns.
I'm afraid the lesson is about to be a serious one. And we've been telling this country the whole time what's about to go down if it doesn't change its ways.
