Can anyone recall a time when you were NOT alive?
We don't remember from birth to 3-4 yrs old right? That doesn't mean we did not exist. We don't remember being in our mother's womb right? That doesn't mean we didn't exist there.
A couple years ago, I stumbled across a movie called, "A Rumor Of Angels." It is the story of a boy named James, who is having a difficult time dealing with his mother's tragic and untimely death. During their summer trip to Maine, as James walks alone along the beach as he has become accustomed to doing, he breaks a fence belonging to an elderly lady who likes her privacy as much as James does. They become friends as he helps her repair and paint the fence. James learns the story written by Grace Duffie Boylan (February 9, 1861 – March 24, 1935) in the book, "Thy Son Liveth: World War One History - Letters from an American Soldier to His Mother."
In the movie, Maddy, portrayed by Vanessa Redgrave, teaches James - and he reads her memoirs - of her account of what her deceased son communicated to her using morse code and automatic writing after his death on the battlefield in France during World War I.
A beautiful quote from the book, "At death, the soul leaves the body as a schoolboy jumps from a school door, suddenly and with joy. There is no horror in death."
If we recalled previous lives it would be tantamount to cheating on a test... so what would be the point of incarnating? We'd have all the answers and our existence would be like Simba in the Lion King (the original) after his father Mufasa was murdered by his brother Scar. We would be frolicking in the wilderness with Timon and Pumbaa without a care in the world, and not fulfilling our purpose.
Until 'Rafiki' (late mom, dad, grandparents, or close friend who has transitioned) comes along, pops us upside the head with a stick (life's vicissitudes), and tells us in a vision... YOU ARE MORE THAN WHAT YOU HAVE BECOME!
TRANSLATION: WE ARE ALL GODS IN THE MAKING.
