Black Folks and Mental Health

I was watching women's gymnastics (Tokyo Olympics) Simone Biles bailed because she got "lost" in a jump. USA subsequently settled for the Silver Medal - not bad, but with Simone the Russians had no shot at winning gold. Biles did not have a physical injury, it was her "mental health" that forced her to withdraw.

Similar to Naomi Osaka when she withdrew from the French Open. She later stated that she'd suffered from bouts of depression since 2018. She decided to withdraw after she seemed to take offense after the F. O. officials said she would be fined if she didn't answer questions after her match - as all athletes are required to do.

Honestly, I don't buy this mental crap, especially with black folks, because we're stronger than that. We did not inherent this weakness from our ancestors, we got this balderdash from White Folks. Just as we inherited their macabre religion called Christianity. I can't mention my opinion on social media without being ostracized.

If you're the GOAT in your sport you handle pressure. Venus and Serena had every reason to claim mental health issues because of being called the N word at every match in the early part of their dominant careers. But, like soldiers they pressed on!

Women want to be treated equal to men, as you all should be. Look at all the great champions from Althea Gibson, to Arthur Ashe, Jackie Robinson, Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant (rape accusation, still balled out), to Lebron James, whose been under monumental pressure from 16 years of age. All the aforementioned have a champions mentality. They all live and lived by the cliché, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." In other words, say what you will, I'm still gonna kick your ass on the court and in life!

This opinion certainly won't be popular, but I think it's a copout; a testament to weak-ass millennials and the mentally soft generation Z. I'm sick of these weak-minded BFs. Maybe this has to do with being subscribed Ritalin (Methylphenidate) or some other pharmaceutical drug as adolescents. Not sure, I would have to be Sigmund Freud to figure that out.

We're fortunate that we didn't have to rely on the current and previous generations to get us over the hump. Martin, Malcolm, Mandela, Fannie Lou Hamer, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Oprah Winfrey (raped by family members as a child), talk about pressure!

Our ancestors survived the worst treatment imaginable for 300+ years. Survival and mental toughness is in our DNA.
